Our Plan

Size - For the Community to be a maximum of 50 units, housing approximately 80 people. This size supports community dynamics and informal community contact.

Tenure - Our aspiration is for a mixed tenure of rental, shared ownership and ownership.

Location type - Good transport links for social/economic connectivity and green travel. To have or be able to create green spaces and ideally views of nature and a waterside location. Many in the core group have a strong preference for South Liverpool.

Design + Ecobuild – An eco-design that is affordable, durable and repairable. Ideally to Passivhaus standards, the minimum is to be carbon neutral and to maximise energy provision on site. Maximum 6 floors high with some ground floor accommodation. Consideration also given to lifetime standards and a proportion of extra-care apartments/ provision.

Communal Facilities - Communal kitchen, food storage and food-buying co-op. Communal laundry with shared washing machines for all to use, cutting the need for individual machines

Growing area, roof spaces.  Green space, picnic/play area.

Meeting Room, Library, Activity space

Bike Shed, tool shed and shared electric vehicles with charge points.

Potential Workshops for co-operative enterprises registered separately to cohousing co-op.
